-
For beginner levels: The students will learn the basics of chess and build a solid foundation needed to move ahead - from the movements and values of the pieces, to tactics and different checkmate patterns.
-
For intermediate levels: The students will have a better understanding of the patterns, tactics, and principles in the opening, middle game, and end game.
-
For advanced levels: The students will focus on the strategizing, thinking process, and have a deep understanding of different openings and endgame techniques.
* Classes are open to PS 398Q students only
Our Curriculum Chess Program integrates chess directly into the school day, offering students a structured yet highly engaging academic enrichment experience. Each class is designed to foster critical thinking, patience, and strategic planning.
Every session features a well-rounded combination of:
-
Interactive Discussions: Exploring foundational and advanced chess concepts, history, and strategic principles.
-
Engaging Puzzles: Sharpening analytical thinking, pattern recognition, and tactical problem-solving skills.
-
Dynamic Games: Applying newly learned concepts in a supervised, supportive, and fun playing environment.
-
Other Chess-Related Activities: Expanding minds and building sportsmanship through collaborative exercises and unique chess variants.
The program concludes with a dedicated period for creative analysis, review, or continued chess play, ensuring every student walks away with a deeper appreciation for the game.
