FOREST HILLS CAMPS

New York Chess Academy chess camps offer students the opportunity to learn chess and play games in a friendly environment. Campers will have the chance to improve their strategic skills, make new friends, and have fun!

​

The camps will include discussions, game play and analysis, puzzle-solving, and other chess-related activities. Indoor games, arts, critical thinking, and different fun activities may be incorporated into each session.

General Information:

• Open to all levels, ages 4-13 years

• Schedule Options and Pricing

  • Full Day: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

  • Half Day AM: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

  • Half Day PM: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

• Lunch (pizza served daily) and snacks will be provided. If you bring your own meals or snacks, please ensure they are nut-free.

• Weather permitting, there will be a one-hour park time in the afternoon.

• During the summer, students will have the option to purchase ice cream at the park for an additional cost ($5).

The participants will be grouped and divided based on their levels (the coaches will also do an assessment to ensure the participants are in their appropriate group) and whenever the kids are ready to be "promoted", we will automatically move them up to the next level.

Important Camp Details:

• Entrance/Exit: Please use the main entrance on the 112th Street side (red door) for all drop-offs and pick-ups.

• Registration: Kindly provide any allergy information or other relevant details about your child during the registration process.

• Early Drop-off (8:30-9:00 AM) and Late Pick-up (5:00-6:00 PM) are available for an additional fee.

What's New?

• USCF Rated Games: Exciting news for our Knight-level and above campers! We've expanded our USCF-rated game offerings to provide even more valuable competitive experience. Now, eligible campers can participate in two rated games each camp day, with one scheduled in the morning and another in the afternoon. This provides a fantastic opportunity to engage in serious, challenging matches and develop your skills in a tournament setting. Please remember that active membership with the United States Chess Federation (USCF) is required to participate in these games.

USCF-rated chess games are officially recognized by the United States Chess Federation, requiring membership and assigning a numerical rating to players based on their performance in these games, which helps to fairly match players of similar skill levels and track their progress; participation in rated games can motivate improvement and provide competitive experience, but choosing to exclude your child from them will not affect their ability to participate in unrated games and other activities at the camp.
